Principle
Security covers the household, not the building
Most security work in this market ends at the property line. Cameras are installed, a recorder is fitted, and the household is left with footage to review after the fact. That is surveillance. It is useful, and it is not the same thing as security.
We design for the household. The building is protected, the perimeter is watched before anyone reaches a door, the rooms inside are understood without being filmed, and the people who live there can raise an alarm whether they are in the house or three kilometres from it. Every system already in the property becomes part of the response: lighting, shutters, climate and access all move together when something happens.
Cameras tell you what happened. A designed system acts while it is happening.
People
Safety that does not stop at the front gate
The part of a security system most households actually need is the part that works when nobody is home.
Any member of the household can raise an alert from their phone, from anywhere. When they do, the system does several things at once rather than sending a single message that might be missed. Live location is shared with the family and updated continuously while the situation lasts. The alert reaches the other household phones as a priority notification that overrides silent mode, and is announced aloud in the house. The location trail is written to a log that can be reviewed afterwards. Any member of the family can acknowledge and stand the alert down from their own phone.
It is deliberately redundant. A message on one channel gets missed. A message on three does not.
This is what a journey home late at night, a car taking an unfamiliar route, or an elderly parent away from the house looks like as an engineering problem: the household needs to know, needs to know where, and needs to know without anyone having to explain themselves first.
The feature requires the household phones to be enrolled in the system during commissioning. It is set up once and does not need attention afterwards.
Perimeter
Known before anyone reaches a door
Security that begins at the front door begins too late. The useful line is the boundary: the gate, the driveway, the garden and the approach to the building. An event detected there gives the household time, and time is the only thing a security system can genuinely give you.
Cameras are positioned for coverage rather than count. A property does not need a camera on every wall; it needs the approaches covered properly, at the heights and angles that produce a usable image at night rather than a white smear from a badly placed light.
Detection runs on hardware inside the property. The system distinguishes a person from a vehicle, and both from an animal or a moving branch, so an alert means something happened rather than something moved. This matters more than it sounds. A system that cries wolf is trained out of the household within a month, and after that nobody checks the notification that mattered.
There is no subscription attached to any of it. The processing happens in your house, on equipment you own.
Inside
A house that knows without watching
We do not put cameras inside the home.
Interior awareness is built on presence sensors instead: devices that detect whether a room is genuinely occupied, including someone sitting still, and report nothing more than that. The house knows the study is occupied and the upstairs corridor is empty. It has no image of either. For a household with guests, children or domestic staff, this is the difference between a home that is secure and a home that feels watched.
Arming modes
The system is armed differently depending on who is in the property and when. Away covers an empty house. Night covers a house full of sleeping people, where interior movement is expected and an opening window is not. Guest and staff modes suspend the rules that would otherwise treat an expected person as an intruder, for the hours they are expected. Modes change from presence and schedule rather than from someone remembering to press a button on the way out.
Wellbeing
The same sensors carry value that has nothing to do with intruders. A parent room with no movement past the hour it should have had some. A child home from school. An external door opening at three in the morning. These are quiet alerts to the right person rather than alarms, and they are usually the reason a household ends up relying on the system daily rather than only when it leaves.
Access
The door, the gate, and who has been through them
Entry is a single system rather than a gate remote, an intercom handset and a key. Gate and door are controlled from the same interface as everything else, from inside the house or from anywhere else.
- A door that verifies twice. The camera outside the building recognises a face, then waits for the intercom camera to confirm the same person before the lock releases. A photograph held up to one lens opens nothing.
- Access that expires. A contractor, a driver or domestic staff can be given a credential valid for specific hours and specific days, which stops working on its own. Nothing has to be collected back, and nothing has to be remembered.
- Visitors seen before they are admitted. The intercom is answered from a phone whether you are in the kitchen or out of the country, with the camera image alongside it.
- A record of every entry. Who came through the door and when, kept as a searchable history rather than a folder of clips.
Existing intercom hardware can often be brought into the system rather than replaced, provided it is digital or can be adapted. Establishing that is part of the site assessment.
Response
What the house does about it
An alarm that only makes noise depends on someone being near enough to hear it and willing to act. A designed response uses everything the property already has.
When an event is verified, lighting goes to full inside and out, which is the most effective deterrent available and also what makes the recorded footage usable. Sirens sound inside, outside, or both: inside to move an intruder out, outside to draw attention to the property. Shutters and gates move according to the scenario. Running loads such as air conditioning shut down. The household is notified across several channels at once, with the camera image attached rather than a line of text.
If nobody acknowledges, it escalates. A notification left unread for a few minutes moves to the next person and the next channel rather than sitting there.
Every one of these is conditional. The same detection at two in the afternoon with the family home does not produce the same response as at three in the morning with the house armed.
Life safety
Fire, gas and water
Smoke, heat, gas and water leak sensors are part of the same system and carry the same treatment: several people alerted at once, announced in the house, and logged.
The advantage of integration is what happens next. Detection can raise shutters, release the gate and bring the lights up, so nobody is finding their way through a dark house or a closed gate. Water detection can be tied to a shut-off valve where one is fitted.
This is sensor-based detection integrated into your automation system. It complements a certified fire alarm installation where the building has one, and does not replace it or the requirements that come with it.
Recording
Footage that survives the incident
The recorder is the first thing an experienced intruder looks for, and in most installations it sits exactly where they expect it to. We treat recording as something to be designed rather than a box that arrives with the cameras.
Where it lives
Recording hardware is placed away from the entrance and away from the obvious cupboard, in a position agreed with you and not pointed out to visitors.
More than one copy
Footage is written to more than one place. Cameras with onboard storage keep their own copy. A second recorder can hold a duplicate elsewhere in the property. Where the requirement justifies it, a copy goes off the property entirely. Losing one of these does not lose the footage.
Retention that matches the property
How many days are kept is a design decision, driven by how you would actually use the footage rather than by whatever the recorder happened to ship with.
Finding what you need
Recorded events are searchable by what they were, such as a person at the gate at a particular hour, rather than by scrolling a timeline. Clips can be exported in a form suitable for handing to someone else.
A security system that has quietly failed is worse than none at all.
Reliability
A system that watches itself
Every device is monitored. A camera that drops off, a recorder that stops writing, a sensor with a dying battery, a power loss on the security circuit: each raises an alert rather than waiting to be discovered.
The network underneath
Cameras and recorders sit on their own segment, separated from household traffic and unable to reach it. This keeps surveillance bandwidth away from everything else and keeps the cameras themselves from becoming the way into your network. Structured cabling and PoE are designed before any device is chosen.
Without an internet connection
Detection, recording, sirens, lighting response, presence and door control all run on hardware in the property and continue through an outage. What pauses is remote access and remote notification, and both return with the connection.

Process
How a security project runs
- Consultation. A paid session to understand the property, the household and what you want the system to do. This comes before any visit.
- Site and risk assessment. On site review of approaches, boundaries, sight lines, existing equipment, cabling routes and network conditions.
- Design and specification. Coverage, detection, response behaviour and retention designed as one scheme, with hardware chosen to suit it.
- Infrastructure. Cabling, containment, power and network build, including the position of the recording hardware.
- Installation and commissioning. Devices fitted and terminated, then every rule written and tested against how the household actually lives.
- Handover and support. The household is shown how to use the system. Support is included for the first year and renewed annually thereafter.
Scope
What shapes a security project
No two properties are specified the same way. Scope is shaped by the size of the boundary and how many approaches it has, the coverage a camera layout genuinely needs rather than a device count, whether the existing cameras and recorder are worth keeping, whether the intercom is analogue or digital, the type of gate motor fitted and whether it can be controlled rather than only triggered, how many doors need managed access, the cabling routes the building allows, how many days of footage you want retained and in how many places, how many rooms need presence sensing, and how many phones are enrolled for alerts and personal safety. These are the questions we work through at consultation, before anything is quoted.
